Didarul Islam promoted to detective first grade by NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch at funeral

Hero NYPD cop Didarul Islam, who was killed in the NYC shooting by madman Shane Tamura, was promoted at his funeral by NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch.

“He earned the respect of his department,” Tisch said.

“With only four years on the job, he did the work of a cop with twice that time and in a command where the work never slowed. But no matter what this job threw at him, you could count on Didarul to get it done and to get it done right.

“And though his journey was cut too short … he lived this job with steadiness, with heart, with conviction, with everything this title represents.

“So today, it is my honor and my great privilege to promote Officer Didarul Islam to detective first grade,” she said to applause from the room.
