Will There Be A Season 2 Of ‘Untamed’?

Netflix’s newest wilderness-based crime drama Untamed is dark, gripping … and way too short. After devouring all six episodes of the murder mystery, it’s easy to find yourself hungry for more. But will the new series be graced with a Season 2? Read on to find out.

First, a quick rundown: after the body of an unidentified woman falls off the cliff of El Capitan in Yosemite National Park, it’s up to National Park Service Investigative Services Branch agent Kyle Turner (Eric Bana) to hop on his horse and solve the case. When the jaded ISB agent teams up with rookie park ranger Naya Vasquez (Lily Santiago), he finds that the case may have a mysterious connection to other cases — and traumas — of his past.

Without spoiling too much, we can confirm that the finale leaves some things open-ended: not only does agent Turner find out the true identity and past of his Jane Doe, but he discovers her killer in the most unlikely of people. After the case is settled, Turner makes the difficult decision to leave the park behind and move on from his troubled past. The last few shots of the show are of Vasquez taking the reins, riding Turner’s horse through the woods, and of Turner driving off into the sunset. But will we ever get to see agent Turner’s next assignment? Here’s what we know about Untamed Season 2.

Will There Be A Season 2 Of Untamed?

We’re not sure. As of now, Untamed Season 2 has not been greenlit by Netflix.

Could Untamed Be Greenlit For Season 2?

It’s possible! The show was billed as a limited series, but that hasn’t stopped other limited series like Shōgun and Forever from returning with more episodes. We’ll just have to wait for Netflix execs to determine whether the show is popular enough to bring back — and since the show only just came out on July 17, we might be waiting a while.

What Will Untamed Season 2 Be About?

We don’t know, but the actors and showrunners of Untamed have been talking. Bana confirmed as much in an interview with Variety: when asked whether he has discussed the possibility of a Season 2 with anyone, the actor replied, “We spoke about what would happen to Kyle after this, in theory. So you never know.”

Co-creator Elle Smith tells TV Insider that the nature of Turner’s job as an ISB agent could open the series up to new possibilities: “[ISB agents] go to different national parks and they do travel from park to park and case to case and things like that. So I think that’s what was interesting to us, and if we got the opportunity to do it again, it would be getting to explore a different park, a different case.”

Smith adds, “We would do this forever if they let us, but we’ll see. We’ll see how many adventures Turner has left in him.”
