Oasis stars Liam and Noel Gallagher’s older brother, Paul, charged with rape
Paul Gallagher, the older brother of Oasis duo Liam and Noel Gallagher, has been charged with rape.
In addition to rape, London’s Metropolitan Police have charged him with three counts of sexual assault, three counts of intentional strangulation, coercive control and two counts of making threats to kill and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
Scotland Yard, responsible for policing much of London, told The Post the alleged offenses took place between 2022 and 2024.
Paul, who is a year older than Noel and seven years older than Liam, is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court in London on August 27. He has not indicated a plea.
A spokesperson for Metropolitan Police told The Post, “The charges follow an investigation which commenced in 2024. A woman is being supported by specially-trained officers.”
The 59-year-old grew up alongside his musician siblings in Burnage, Manchester, though his current relationship with them remains unknown.
He has never been directly involved with the band, who are currently in the middle of a sold-out reunion tour.
Paul, a DJ and photographer, has resided in East Finchley since 2004 in the same apartment Noel had bought for him that year.
“We can confirm we have authorized the Metropolitan Police Service to charge Paul Gallagher with rape and other offenses following a police investigation,” Cate Baccas, from the Crown Prosecution Service, told The Post in a statement.
“Mr Gallagher, 59, of East Finchley, London has been charged with a range of offenses, including rape and sexual assault. He has also been charged with assault, controlling or coercive behavior, making threats to kill and intentional strangulation.”
“The Crown Prosecution Service reminds all concerned that criminal proceedings against the defendant are now active and that he has a right to a fair trial,” the statement continued.
“It is extremely important that there should be no reporting, commentary or sharing of information online which could in any way prejudice these proceedings,” Baccas added.
The “Wonderwall” musicians, who have three remaining shows at London’s Wembley stadium continuing on with their tour, have yet to comment on the charges against their brother.
