NFL journeyman Byron Cowart soaking in Jets opportunity to rewrite ‘bust’ status
Byron Cowart is a poster child for the type of player Jets head coach Aaron Glenn wants representing his team.
Cowart is hungry, humble and accountable to a fault.
The Jets are the seventh NFL team for which the 29-year-old Florida native has worn a uniform. This is Cowart’s seventh season in the league. Based on that math, obviously the journey has been far from a smooth ride.
And that adversity doesn’t even touch the level of angst and embarrassment he endured when he was rated the No. 1 high school recruit by ESPN and Rivals in 2014, and later labeled the “biggest No. 1 recruit bust’’ by Rivals.
