NYC mom and Detroit football coach fatally shot in Miami

A New York City mom and a football coach from Michigan were found fatally shot in a car in Miami earlier this month, according to authorities and reports.

Chastidy Charlotte Rodriguez, 35, and Darious Coon, 31, were discovered with gunshot wounds in the vehicle at a downtown parking garage on the morning of Saturday, July 19, the Miami Police Department told The Post.

Rodriguez of The Bronx was in Miami looking for work at a strip club, while Coon had moved to the Florida city a few months ago — and both are believed to have been out on a date together when killed, reports said.

The pair did not appear to have been robbed, as their belongings were found still with them, police said.

“Everyone around her would tell you she has a good heart,” Rodriguez’s grieving brother told CBS Miami of his tragic sibling — as the family was preparing to hold a memorial service for her Sunday.

“She was a good person and a good mother,’’ he said.

“We don’t want this to be [just] another case,’’ the brother said. “We want justice. She did not deserve to go out this way. We hope that the detective will find the person guilty of this, or maybe if it was more than one person, all of them will face the consequences of justice.’’

Coon’s family said it was struggling to cope with how to explain to his 7-year-old daughter and teenage son how something like this could happen.

Coon is set to be laid to rest on Aug. 7 — his birthday.

“My granddaughter, she’s 7. She don’t understand it, none of it. She just knows that Daddy is not picking up the phone,” Coon’s mother, Tashia Porter, told WXYZ-TV in Detroit.

Porter described her slain son as a devoted dad as well as a fitness buff and football coach.

“To lose a child, it’s nothing I would wish on anyone,” the mom said.

Police said they were alerted to the crime scene after a foul odor was reported coming from the vehicle.

It’s possible their bodies were inside the car for three to four days, the outlet added.

Investigators have not yet determined a motive and are combing through days of surveillance footage, cops said.
