Everyone’s betting on Luka Doncic to win NBA MVP after Men’s Health cover reveal

Sometimes, a little bit of positive public relations is all you need to convince the gambling public that this is finally the year.

Lakers superstar Luka Doncic was featured on the cover of Men’s Health on Monday after rampant criticism surrounded his conditioning and weight during previous seasons.

Meanwhile, an ESPN BET spokesperson tells The Post that Doncic is getting loads of bets from excited gamblers looking for an edge.

As of Monday, Doncic had received 58.3 percent of bets and 78.2 percent of handle (total money bet) in the last seven days on the “to win the NBA regular-season MVP award” betting market, according to the sportsbook.

No other player has received close to this level of interest on the MVP market, with Victor Wembanyama getting the second most money to win MVP, at just 8.6 percent of the handle.

DraftKings and BetMGM are seeing similar results in the market.

On Monday, Doncic had received 67 percent of bets to win MVP as well as 57 percent of the handle on DraftKings.

Meanwhile, BetMGM reports to The Post that a whopping 79 percent of the money has been wagered on Doncic to win MVP on Monday in the MVP market.

Doncic told Men’s Health that “Visually, I would say my whole body looks better.”

The Dallas Mavericks made it relatively clear that they were moving on from Doncic, both as a player and in terms of his work habits, when they traded him to the Lakers in exchange for Anthony Davis, Max Christie, and a draft pick in a shocking midseason blockbuster.

Betting on the NBA?

General manager Nico Harrison consistently bashed his poor defensive effort and game conditioning after they unceremoniously traded him under everyone’s nose.

Doncic is surely looking for a revenge season as the leader of the Lakers, although his running mate, LeBron James, has had a bizarre back-and-forth with the team that included rumors that he is looking for a trade.

If Doncic’s newfound emphasis on health and fitness is real, James might be pleased enough to stick around in Hollywood a bit longer.
