Caitlin Clark stalker gets 2.5 years in prison during heated court hearing

Caitlin Clark’s accused stalker pleaded guilty to stalking and harassment on Monday and was sentenced to 2.5 years in prison.

After shouting “guilty as charged” while pleading not guilty in January, Michael Lewis officially flipped his plea to guilty this time around.

The 55-year-old was arrested on Jan. 12 in Indianapolis after messaging the Indiana Fever superstar threats and sexually explicit messages through X.

Lewis was sending these messages to Clark before the FBI then received his account information and showed up to his hotel room in Indianapolis. Lewis is from Texas, yet had gone to Indiana in the midst of his frightening messages.

Lewis was sentenced immediately in January and was told to cease contact with Clark and stay away from any Fever or Pacers games, events or properties. He was also required to stay away from Hinkle Fieldhouse, where Clark’s boyfriend, Connor McCaffery, coaches for Butler University.

Lewis’ hearing on Monday was just as much of a mess as his last, as the judge reportedly had to frequently stop and correct the man’s behavior, according to WTHR Indianapolis.

Lewis continuously denied his responsibility which, of course, does not align with a guilty plea.

During a statement to the court, Lewis said, “I just want her to be safe” and claimed his actions were only to highlight security concerns for Clark.

“I’ve never threatened her, I’ve never thought about threatening her,” Lewis said.

“He is going to talk himself out of a plea,” the judge said. “You have to understand that as part of a plea deal, you are admitting responsibility.”

After a two-minute statement of the accusations against Lewis was read aloud to the courtroom and he was asked if that’s what happened, he simply said, “Sure,” to which the judge told him that it’s a yes or no question.

He ultimately said yes and his plea was accepted. The judge ordered Lewis not to use the internet and recommended mental health treatment.

Lewis also reportedly revealed his theory that the world would soon be ending.

The man was sentenced to 2.5 years in prison, but with time-served credit, the sentence works out to be a bit more than a year and a half.
