Bad Bunny Slathers Honey on Shirtless Travis Kelce in Wild ‘Happy Gilmore 2’ Scene
There’s a lot of silly, stupid, and absurd moments, and a lot of celebrity cameos, in Happy Gilmore 2, which began streaming on Netflix today. Would you expect anything less from the long-awaited sequel to Adam Sandler’s hit 1996 comedy? Of course not!
You’ve got to hand it to Sandler for getting some very famous people to do some very dumb things—like the scene where international pop star Bad Bunny slathers honey onto Kansas City’s star NFL champion, Travis Kelce. Who else besides the Sandman could possibly orchestrate such tomfoolery?
Both Bad Bunny (credited in the script by his real name, Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio) and Kelce have more than just brief cameos in Happy Gilmore 2, which was directed by Kyle Newacheck, and written by Tim Herlihy and Sandler. Bad Bunny plays Oscar, an eager-to-please bus boy at a fancy restaurant who gets brutally chewed out and fired by his waiter boss (played by Kelce). Happy witnesses the firing and feels bad for the guy. When Happy (yet again) forgets to provide his own caddy for a golf competition, he hires Oscar.
Oscar’s not the best caddy, but he’s more than willing to listen to Happy and learn on the go. That includes going to his very own “happy place,” a strategy that Happy’s mentor, Carl Weathers, taught him in the first movie. Happy tells Oscar to go to his happy place, and Oscar obeys. And what does Oscar imagine in his fantasy happy place? His old boss shirtless, tied to a pole!
Bad Bunny proceeds to slather Kelce’s bare torso in honey. (Kelce, apparently, is a little ticklish!) Somehow, this is not, in fact, the set-up to a BDSM sex fantasy. Instead, it’s an elaborate form of revenge for Kelce’s earlier verbal abuse. You see, Oscar is imagining that there is a very large, very hungry bear who can’t wait to lick that honey off of Kelce’s torso. (Yes, I heard what that sounded like. Again, this is somehow not meant to be sexual.)
A guy in a pretty impressive bear costume shows up and proceeds to put its big paws and snout all over Kelce, while the NFL star screams in agony. “God damn you, bus boy!”
With that, Oscar snaps out of his fantasy, and declares, “OK, I’m happy.”
Happy Gilmore 2 may be rated PG-13, but we feel certain that Sandler and his collaborators knew what they were doing with this one. I, for one, am thankful, and we’re sure Taylor Swift is, too.
