The attitude Nets’ quintet of rookies are bringing as they begin to jell
It’s obviously premature to dub the Nets’ historic quintet the new Fab Five, but the NBA’s first set of five first-round picks in one draft by the same franchise already has been bonding ahead of the start of summer league later this week in Las Vegas.
Lottery pick Egor Demin and new teammates Nolan Traore, Drake Powell, Ben Saraf and Danny Wolf sounded eager to get started on building their own identity while helping out at a camp for kids Monday at Sunset Park in Brooklyn.
“We’re gonna have to prove ourselves,” said Wolf, who was pick No. 27 out of Michigan, where the original collegiate Fab Five freshmen got started more than three decades ago. “The Fab Five arguably is one of the best college teams of all time, so if we can consider ourselves the Fab Five of the NBA at some point in time, that would be pretty cool.
“But I’ll leave it up to you guys [in the media] to give us a nickname.”
