What to buy and avoid shopping during Amazon Prime Day 2025
It’s official: Amazon Prime Day 2025 is starting in less than 24 hours, and everyone is all abuzz with making the most of it. What are the best deals? What Prime benefits can I take advantage of? Is it the best time to buy that Little Green vacuum cleaner?!
Sure, Prime Day is our Met Gala, our Super Bowl — whatever you want to call it. It’s where the Post Wanted, quite literally, joins forces around the clock to hunt down and round up the best deals. They’re either at their lowest price ever, a best-selling product you shouldn’t miss out on or a hidden gem we simply can’t gatekeep.
However, not everything is worth your hard-earned cash, especially as 2025 proves itself a different Prime Day year than in events past. For one, it’s now *four days long*, meaning there’s more time to shop. Don’t let that fool you, though; Lightning deals and act-fast offers may vanish from your cart if you don’t act quickly.
“With what we’re seeing in terms of consumer sentiment around tariffs, we can assume that there may be more of an emphasis on consumer electronics than last year,” Matt Smith, data journalist at consumer insights company GWI, who has previously worked alongside clients such as Amazon in the run up to Prime Day, exclusively shared with Post Wanted.
With increasing prices in 2025, Smith shared that 53% of Americans believe that tariffs will have a moderate (33%) or dramatic (20%) impact on their day-to-day expenses or lifestyle. As a result, over one-in-ten Americans are purchasing electronics now to avoid higher prices in the future.
“That being said, 32% are cutting back on their purchase behavior and prioritizing because of them, so it might be the case that people’s total spend is overall less this year compared to last year, where 62% of shoppers spent over $100,” Smith forecasted.
Ahead, Post Wanted dug up data, analyzed trends and made strategic predictions to round up what to buy and avoid for Amazon Prime Day 2025. Hint, hint: sign up for a Prime membership if you haven’t already (you’ll thank us later).
What to Buy During Prime Day
Tech upgrades
Apple 2025 MacBook Air 13″ Laptop

Prime Day is kind of like Black Friday’s cooler, more laid-back cousin, showing up mid-summer with some of the best deals you’ll see all year, especially on tech. If you’ve had your eye on the new 2025 MacBook Air 13″, this is the time to strike. Amazon’s discounts on Apple gear tend to be rare, but during Prime Day, we regularly see price drops of $150–$300 — sometimes even more if you catch a Lightning Deal.
The 2025 MacBook Air 13″ itself is a total glow-up from last year’s model. It runs on Apple’s latest M4 chip, which, without getting too nerdy, means it’s faster, more efficient, and ridiculously good at anything AI-related, like voice transcription or smart photo editing. It has a gorgeous Liquid Retina display, a sharper 12MP webcam (hello, Zoom calls) and it still somehow lasts up to 20 hours on a charge.
Winter fashion on sale
Orolay Thickened Long Down Jacket

Prime Day might be smack in the middle of summer, but it’s actually one of the smartest times to score deals on winter essentials, like the cult-favorite Orolay Thickened Long Down Jacket. Retailers — not only Amazon — use the July shopping frenzy to quietly drop prices on cold-weather gear before the seasonal rush, so you can often grab this best-selling coat for way less than its usual price.
If you’ve been meaning to upgrade your winter wardrobe without spending a fortune, Prime Day is the moment. Not only do you beat the fall scramble, but you also get a coat that’s been praised by thousands of happy reviewers (and even made Oprah’s Favorite Things list).
The Orolay Thickened Long Down Jacket is a cozy yet practical find that blends serious warmth with street-style appeal. It’s packed with 90% duck down for insulation, but designed to be sleek, not puffy. The mid-thigh cut keeps you cozy, and it also boasts features like fleece-lined pockets, a big adjustable hood and smart side zippers add comfort and versatility.
Korean skincare
medicube Deep Vita C Capsule Cream

Prime Day is a fantastic opportunity to score major savings on Korean skincare, including one of my all-time favorites: the medicube Deep Vita C Capsule Cream. Big beauty brands often discount products 30–50% during this mid-year event to make room for new fall releases, and Amazon’s spotlight on Korean skincare (with medicube included) often introduces deeply discounted bundles or standalone deals.
On Prime Day, you may snag this popular Vitamin C-rich moisturizer for less than $20 for an affordable glow at your fingertips. It’s an ideal time to level up your skincare routine without overspending, and genuinely test out top-rated K‑beauty essentials.
Now, onto the cream. The medicube Deep Vita C Capsule Cream is a clever two-in-one: vitamin-C-packed capsules floating in a refreshing gel base. The capsules contain 50% sea buckthorn, 5% niacinamide, and pure vitamin C, all encapsulated to ensure potency right up to application. When pressed and blended into the gel, they deliver brightening, antioxidant protection, and hydration — the ultimate trifecta for glowing skin.
Noise-canceling headphones
Sony ULT WEAR Over-Ear Noise-Canceling Headphones

“Many shoppers will use this year’s summer sales period for back-to-school shopping,” Ally Anderson, senior director of strategy and insights over brand partnerships at shopping platform LTK, exclusively shared with The Post. “Our recent Back-to-School Consumer Study reveals that 75% of LTK users intend to spend the same or more on back-to-school shopping this year.”
Similarly, the study found that 86% of Gen Z and 76% of millennials are shopping for back-to-school based on Creator recommendations — and noise-canceling headphones are one of the trending products that consumers are shopping for right now.
“Noise-canceling headphones are a must-have for college students seeking focus and quiet on campus, with a 21% year-over-year increase in headphone-related posts on LTK,” Anderson tipped off.
The Sony ULT WEAR Over-Ear Noise-Canceling Headphones deliver rich, bass-forward sound with a dedicated ULT Power Sound button offering two levels of immersive low-end (you know, that concert-like thump without distortion). They’re comfortable, travel-friendly and are on a Prime Day deal that beats its lowest price of the year by 14%.
Outdoor patio furniture
Oasbira Aluminum Outdoor Patio Furniture Set

Prime Day is a standout opportunity for outdoor patio furniture because Amazon unleashes deep discounts — as much as 50–78% off — particularly on conversation sets, dining sets and loungers. It’s strategically timed in July when retailers are hungry to move inventory: not too late in the season when selection is gone, but late enough that production models have debuted.
Plus, you get deals rivaling early summer holiday sales without sacrificing choice. This means you can reliably snag a durable, stylish set at its best price, which are the kind of savings you won’t usually see outside of flash sales or year-end clearances.
The Oasbira Aluminum Outdoor Patio Furniture Set is a lovely choice that’s bound to match any backyard, and one that looks incredibly luxe without spending close to $1,000.
Coordinated activewear
KevaMolly Athletic Lounge Set

“Matching active sets continue to resonate with Gen Z and college-age shoppers, driving a 52% surge in ‘active set’ searches on LTK compared to last year,” Anderson noted. The KevaMolly Athletic Lounge Set is on sale for 20% off and offered in a roster of fun colors to choose from.
The KevaMolly Athletic Lounge Set is a two-piece ensemble that’s fit for your hot girl walks, an evening pickleball match or your frequent trips to the grocery store. It’s available in a bunch of colors to choose from and won’t break the bank.
Cookware sets
CAROTE 21-Piece Nonstick Cookware Set

From our years of experience covering Prime Day, we can attest that it’s a *prime time* to pick up a cookware set. You can score bundles on top, best-selling brands for way less, making it the best time to score a complete kitchen upgrade.
The CAROTE 21-Piece Nonstick Cookware Set is a standout option frequently featured in Prime Day promotions. This set includes a comprehensive assortment of pots, pans, glass lids and cooking utensils, — perfect for tackling a wide range of recipes. It also looks chic, too, which is always a plus.
Natural “no-makeup” makeup
L’oreal Paris True Match Nude Hyaluronic Tinted Serum

“As short-form video content grows, we’re seeing rising demand for beauty products that create effortless, natural looks (glowy skin up +100% in the last week),” Anderson noted. “Beauty and personal care remain leading categories for younger consumers this season.”
The L’Oréal Paris True Match Nude Hyaluronic Tinted Serum is a lightweight, hybrid serum-foundation featuring 1 % hyaluronic acid. For this reason, it hydrates, plumps and smoothes skin over time while offering sheer-to-light coverage with a natural, radiant finish. Now. it’s less than $15.
Aesthetic home essentials
Large Decorative Bowl

According to Anderson, “‘Daily routine’ videos are trending, spotlighting stylish home organization, storage solutions and cleaning essentials that complement a polished, aesthetic living space.”
So, this detailed Large Decorative Bowl is ideal for any room of the house. Bonus interior designer points if you place it above a stack of coffee table books for some chic styling.
Functional footwear
Crocs Unisex Adult Classic Clog

“Millennials are prioritizing shoes that fit their everyday lives — think versatile sneakers and Crocs — with LTK posts referencing ‘functional’ or ‘practical’ footwear up 124% year over year,” per Anderson. Hence, the polarizing Crocs (some people love ’em, others hate ’em) aren’t a bad buy this Prime Day.
These clogs are lightweight, water-friendly and buoyant, making them ideal for various activities. With their ventilation ports to enhance breathability and help shed water and debris, they ensure your feet will stay cool and dry all day.
What to Avoid During Prime Day
Baby items
Evenflo Gold Shyft DualRide Infant Car Seat and Stroller Combo

Prime Day may not be the best time to buy baby items because the discounts on these products are often limited or less significant compared to other categories like electronics or household goods. Retailers might offer deals on popular, high-demand baby products, but many essential baby items — such as diapers, formula or certain specialty gear —may not see steep price drops.
However, you may be able to find some hidden gems on strollers or car seats, especially the Evenflo Gold Shyft DualRide Infant Car Seat and Stroller Combo that’s nearly $200 off.
Smart TVs
Amazon Fire TV 32″ HD Smart TV

Prime Day may not be the best time to buy smart TVs because, unlike Black Friday, the deals on TVs during Prime Day tend to be fewer and less aggressive. Black Friday is traditionally known for deep discounts on big-ticket electronics like smart TVs, with retailers competing heavily to offer some of the lowest prices of the year.
Prime Day, while offering some good deals, usually focuses more on Amazon’s own devices and smaller electronics, so the selection and price cuts on a wide range of smart TVs may be limited. However, the Amazon Fire TV 32″ HD Smart TV is on a pretty sweet deal right now.
Indoor furniture
WLIVE Lift-Top Coffee Table with Storage

Historically, Prime Day hasn’t been the absolute *best* time to buy indoor furniture because the event typically focuses on smaller, fast-moving consumer goods rather than large, higher-investment items like furniture. Discounts on indoor furniture during Prime Day are often limited or less competitive compared to dedicated furniture sales or seasonal clearance events.
Yet, that doesn’t mean there are zero deals. The top-rated WLIVE Lift-Top Coffee Table with Storage is a great price and one that’s widely loved among Amazon shoppers.
