NYPD cop struck in eye by firework in Harlem
A police officer was struck in the face with a firework while trying to control a large crowd in Harlem during July 4 celebrations, cops said.
The cop was at 125th Street and Lenox Avenue around 1:15 a.m. when he was hit in the left eyebrow with the firework, police said.
It’s unclear if the incident was accidental or if someone aimed at the officer, authorities said.
“No one was arrested,” the source said. “It’s pretty much up in the air right now.”
The officer, who was on duty, was taken to Harlem Hospital in stable condition.
