Nets’ five-pick NBA draft created roster pileup before free agency

It took just four days for the Nets’ roster to go from blank slate to overcrowded.

After the Nets made an NBA-record five first-round draft picks Wednesday night, they exercised team options on four more players Saturday afternoon.

The Nets can have a maximum of 20 players on their roster for training camp, and while they are believed to still be actively working the phones for more potential trades, they added a ton of warm bodies to what had been a threadbare roster.

Nobody in NBA history ever had gone into a draft with more than four first-round picks, and nobody had ever actually selected and kept more than three.
